De uitdaging

Sky editors

Sky’s editorial team is responsible for the management and distribution of all program images for SKY and NOW TV. Program images are used on set top boxes for Sky Q, mobile applications, print and digital marketing campaigns, corporate communications and for press relations. The team thus provides indispensable services that support numerous activities and teams throughout the organization. Digital Asset Management is an essential foundation for Sky’s services.

Ask for images

The demand for images is very high. Every day the team is bombarded with requests for images. In addition to creating new program images, they also need to make sure that their customers know the status of the images being created for new programs so that they can plan their work.

No efficient management processes

There were no efficient or effective management processes, so editors manually delivered the same image to multiple departments, duplicating images over and over and often making it unclear what the correct version was.

New platforms

New platforms, such as Sky Q, have not only increased demand for images, but also demanded to speed up services. Inevitably, editors struggled to keep up with demand for content and footage and meet their own deadlines for creating new program footage.

Structuur aanbrengen

Woodwing Assets

Qonqord collaborated with SKY to set up Woodwing Assets as the Digital Asset Management system that can store all SKY program assets. This became known as SEAC. Sky Editorial Asset Center

SEAC offers anyone in the company the ability to search, crop and download any available image, provided you have the required authorization based on your role in the organization, of course.

Workflow

On top of WoodWing Assets, a workflow has been set up tailored to the requirements of SKY and integrated with the SKY broadcast database. This allows the teams to plan and predict all activities in an integrated manner.

The platform is a huge success

Not only does it empower teams across the organization to work much more efficiently and effectively, it also frees up the editorial team, allowing them to significantly speed up the creation of new program images.
